DESPERATE NEED!
South Carolina has committed to work with Waynesville, Missouri until the end of February. This call-out has now turned into a CLEAN-UP operation. This means most of the work is pulling and picking up limbs, branches, and sticks. Very little needs to be done with a chainsaw. The North American Mission Board (NAMB) has authorized South Carolina Disaster Relief to target and respond to Waynesville, Missouri due to the crippling ice storms last week. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is mobilizing quickly in response to the severe weather that hit many parts of the Midwest, particularly in Missouri and Oklahoma. Two incident command headquarters have been established, one in Springfield, Missouri and the other in McAlester, Oklahoma.

| The North American Mission Board (NAMB) is “ CALLING UP” trained volunteers to assist in the clean up in the mid-west. At this time NAMB’s lead people are in Missouri and Oklahoma assessing the situation and determining were Disaster Relief volunteers can best serve. NAMB has only communicated about chainsaw teams and feeding teams. This may expand as NAMB assess the situation.

UPDATE:
The North American Mission Board (NAMB) has been asked by the New York Baptist Convention to send Assessors, Chainsaw units and Feeding units to Buffalo, New York in response to the crippling snowstorm earlier this month. NAMB has asked for chainsaw and feeding teams to serve until the 18th of November. THE LAST DAY OF WORK IN NEW YORK WILL BE NOVEMBER 17 AND NOVEMBER 18 WILL BE TEAR-DOWN DAY.

South Carolina Baptist Convention Disaster Relief had an overwhelming response to the dual trainings at Spartanburg First and Grace Baptist in Sumter. Over 1,600 people attended the spring trainings.
